AKMU first captured national attention when they appeared on K-pop Star Season 2 in 2013, winning the competition with their fresh and distinctive self-composed songs such as “Don’t Cross Your Legs,” “You’re Attractive,” and “Is It Ramyeon?”. Their unique musical style left a lasting impression on the Korean music scene.
In 2014, they officially debuted with their first full-length album PLAY, immediately topping digital charts and earning major awards including the Gaon Chart Music Awards and the Korean Music Awards. This success established AKMU as one of Korea’s most respected singer-songwriters, recognized by both the public and critics.
They continued to build their career with releases such as the Spring series, SUMMER EPISODE, and SAILING. Their collaboration album NEXT EPISODE marked a significant expansion of their musical spectrum and received widespread acclaim. In 2023, their fourth single “Love Lee” achieved over 126 Perfect All-Kills across major Korean music platforms, solidifying their reputation as a “trusted artist.”
This year, AKMU released their third mini album LOVE EPISODE, featuring heartfelt and accessible stories about love that resonated deeply with listeners. As the third installment following SUMMER EPISODE and NEXT EPISODE, the album further strengthens AKMU’s unique musical universe.
Celebrating their 10th anniversary, AKMU officially announced their fan club name, “AKKADEMY,” and will hold the 2024 AKMU 10th Anniversary Concert [10VE] on June 15 and 16 at KSPO Dome in Seoul. Over the past decade, their continuous artistic evolution and bold musical exploration have made them one of the most compelling acts to watch for the future.
